Clinical and pathomorphological characteristics of modern combat injury

During the Antiterrorist operation (ATO) in the Eastern Ukraine, the largest part of the sanitary losses of the military personnel of the armed forces and civilian casualties are observed as a result of a mine-blast injury. This research is based on the study of pathogistological and pathomorphological characteristics of a mo-dern mine-explosive wound and the clinical-morphological parallels of modern combat trauma on the basis of the injuries received during the ATO in the East of Ukraine. A pathohistological analysis of 24 gunshot and explosive wounds as a result of a mine-blast trauma was conducted. The sampling for pathophysiological research was carried out at the early hospital stage of providing specialized surgical care during the primary surgical treatment of wounds. Section staining was done by hematoxylin and eosin, objective magnification ×20, ocular magnification ×10. As a result of the study, it was found that pathomorphological changes in mine-blast injury are characte-rized by circulatory disorders in the form of hemorrhages, vascular hypertrophy, as well as dystrophic changes of varying degrees up to necrosis of tissues with secondary inflammatory changes.
