Background. The article deals with the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of victims of the anti-terrorist operation in the Eastern Ukraine that provides an opportunity to determine the overall epidemiological features of modern military injuries as the fundamental basis for developing clinical protocols of medical care. The data analysis has been conducted according to the requirements and criteria of evidence-based medicine using computer technologies. The scope and nature of research allows stating that a study was cohort, with the IIb Oxford level of evidence. Materials and methods. In order to achieve the goal of this study, we have examined 1,030 injured patients. Determination of this number has been done regardless of clinical and epidemiological characteristics of victims, with the use of random numbers and the method of irrevocable randomization. Results. The vast majority of patients were males — 98.35 %. The distribution by gender and age has indicated that victims of the age group of 20–30 and 30–40 years generally prevailed — 35.25 and 34.26 %, respectively, and in general, persons aged 20–40 years amount to almost 70 % in the total array of victims, which is quite understandable. There were no women in the age group over 50 years. In groups of 18–20 and 40–50 years, indicators of distribution by age are similar in both groups and are close to the general index of the array. Conclusions. These clinical and epidemiological studies should be used when developing clinical protocols of medical care.
