Abstract

The problem of modern diagnostics of infectious complications in patients with polytrauma and effective control of the disease course is currently very topical. On the example of 116 patients with polytrauma and different clinical forms of infectious complications there was noted the role of interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the early diagnosis of inflammation. There is a direct correlation between the level of IL-6 and severity of infectious complications, as well as the possibility of diagnosing it without available clinical picture. The level of IL-6 allows us to differentiate the development of local and generalized infection, which contributes to the prediction and treatment in patients with polytrauma. Determining the level of IL-6 is a fairly sensitive marker of infectious complications in patients with polytrauma.
